How come i cant download an otf file?

 · All the fonts are Opentype Fonts .otf) which i know for a fact are working files as i use them on my other box which is running xp. When i try either installing the fonts (right clicking and pressing install) or copy and pasting into the fonts directory i get a message which pops up and says that the file Cannot Install as the file does not.  · My laptop is not downloading internet files, whether they are games or files from a trusted website, or even Word documents sent to my email.
