Why wont my kindle download apps

I tried to download the Google play store app on!I kindle fire 8. I got all th all files downloaded and installed and the play store app icon is on my home screen now but whenever I click on it to open it all it does is say checking and it does this non stop. The App l wanted to download said it was compatible with my device. I downloaded it and paid for it but can't find it on my Kindle.
